What drew the ire and dismay of Central Visayas regional police director Chief Supt. Debold Sinas is that the Daanbantayan Municipal Police Station only conducted 11 anti-illegal drugs operations for the entire 2018.

“They were relieved for poor performance in our anti-illegal drugs operations here,” said Supt. Maria Aurora Rayos, spokesperson of the Central Visayas regional police.

Rayos said there were 21 policemen assigned at the Daanbantayan town, including its chief of police, Senior Insp. Adrian Nalua.

“All of them were ordered replaced,” said Rayos.

Chief Insp. William Homoc was named to replace Nalua, according to Rayos.

It was learned that at least 28 policemen were re-assigned to Daanbantayan to replace the relieved police personnel and to support Homoc in the anti-drugs and anti-crime operations.

The town of Daanbantayan became controversial since its mayor, retired general Vicente Loot, was accused by President Duterte as involved in the illegal drug trade.

Loot denied the allegation. In May last year, Loot survived a gun attack which he attributed to the allegation that he is a narco-politician.
